The red squirrel *(Sciurus vulgaris)*, also known as the Eurasian squirrel, is a small arboreal rodent common throughout Europe and Asia. It is easily recognizable thanks to its red coat and its large ear-tufts during winter. It should not be confused with the grey squirrel, its main rival.
