*Stone rows* are a specific form of *megalithic structure*, an object made of large, usually only lightly worked stones. They are still found today mainly in northwestern Europe, especially in the British Isles, and in the Mediterranean. The oldest *megalithic structures* date from the *Neolithic* period, and the youngest from the *Late Bronze Age* (c. 9000-1200 BC). They were probably used for cult, ritual, and funerary ceremonies.
The *stone rows* are groupings of erect megaliths in a row. The largest of these may consist of thousands of menhirs in lines nearly a kilometer long.
