The Raneferef (also known as Neferefre) Column Hall is part of a funerary complex located in Abusir, Egypt. The complex includes an unfinished pyramid, which was later converted into a mastaba, a funerary temple, and a sun temple. Archaeological excavations have also uncovered numerous papyrus fragments written in hieratic script detailing the administrative operations of the temple. These documents offer invaluable insights into the organization of the funerary cults dedicated to Egyptian rulers during the Old Kingdom. Ranepherem, a ruler of the 5th dynasty in the Old Kingdom, likely did not live to an advanced age, as indicated by the incomplete state of his pyramid. Only fragments of the original funerary equipment have survived, including parts of the sarcophagus and mummy. Since the 1980s, the Czech Institute of Egyptology has led archaeological excavations of the Raneferef complex and has overseen the entire Abusir concession area.
