**Symbol:** Pb
**Atomic number:** 82
**International title:** plumbum
**Relative Atomic Weight:** 207,2
**Information:** Lead is a relatively heavy, poisonous, malleable metal with a gray-blue colour. It absorbs x-rays. It is corrosion-resistant (covering with a layer of oxides, hydroxides and carbonates).
**Use:** Lead accumulators are produced from lead (e.g. in automobiles). It is used for the protection against X-rays. It is a part of alloys (for example, tin-formed solder) and leaded glass.
**Occurrence:** The occurrence of lead is relatively low in Earth's crust. Among significant lead minerals we find PbS.
**Structure:** Lead crystallizes into a cubic (cubic) system (a flat-centered base cell).
