The Great Orange Tip is a butterfly that is distributed on the South and Southeast Asia, as well as in southern China and southern Japan. It bears bright white wings on the upper side, with a bright orange area at the top of the forewings. Its underside mimics the appearance of a dried leaf, when at rest with wings folded upright it camouflages the butterfly well from predators. Males spend long periods resting on the ground, periodically they take flight, patrolling back and forth in search of females. Both sexes visit flowers frequently, preferring bushy plants. Its wings are also composed by poisonous venom that functions as a defense mechanism against predators.
